Hi to all:
Thought some people might find this of interest. While the focus of this
release is very European in nature, it gives an idea of some things going on
that are useful to know.

--------------------------------------
Dear Reader,
Recently BAUM Retec and its Belgian Distributor KOBA Vision in co-operation
with DAMOVO Belgium NV
have installed a workplace for a blind telephone operator at a major Belgian
Bank that is using
AASTRA InAttend Client together with BAUM COBRA screen reader and BAUM
VarioPro refreshable
Braille display. The goal was to update the previously instable solution
spread over 2 separate PC's to the
new InAttend switchboard software from AASTRA and to combine this with
regular administrative tasks on
one new PC.
The blind telephone operator has access to the AASTRA InAttend application in
both Braille and speech output
using BAUM COBRA screen reader with special scripts. Using this solution the
blind operator can manage the
call handling of InAttend in a - for him - excellent way. This operator is
handling both incoming and internal calls
and has a good knowledge of the internal structure of the organisation in
order to assist with Customers' questions.
A special VarioPro Switchboard Operating Module is fitted to the right side
of the VarioPro refreshable
Braille display in order to increase the blind operator's efficiency further.
Using this special module he is
able to read the redirected phone number within the telephone directory from
a Tooltip that normally can
only be seen using a computer mouse.
The counters for the queues also have a designated place on the refreshable
Braille display. The special
Switchboard Operating Module has a separate, small refreshable Braille
display and a roll-bar button as
well as a numerical keypad similar to a telephone. Also there are other
buttons that can be programmed
and in this case they allow for performing the most important functions in
AASTRA's InAttend and also a
few special functions for swiftly accessing important information and
carrying out commands in a very fast
and efficient manner. Needless to say that the blind operator works fast,
efficient and... with pleasure.
COBRA and VarioPro refreshable Braille display are also used for accessing
the regular Microsoft Office
applications which the operator is using aside of AASTRA's InAttend, i.e.
Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer
and visiting Intranet pages for retrieval of internal information.
COBRA screen reader is so flexible that also several small adaptations have
been made to answer some
individual demands to often used tasks. The blind operator is very happy to
be able to use one PC for both
the telephone switchboard and regular software applications.
In case you wish to have more information about this or another solution for
a blind or a visually impaired
switchboard operator or call-centre agent working with AASTRA InAttend Client
or with another AASTRA
software such as Office 1560/1560IP, Solidus eCare, CMG Now, Communication
Portal, Operator
WorkStation (OWS) or even BusinessPhone, then please contact us.
Looking forward to hearing from you we send you our best regards.
