I can't attend this because of our board meeting this evening, but if anyone
else would like to attend and report back what is decided, that would be
great.

Regards,

Subject: [leadership] Fw: voting task force calls

This is a reminder of the voting taskforce call to be held on Monday
evening, October 12, at 8 PM, EDT, 5 PM PDT. The details are below,
including the call-in information and the questions that we will be trying
to cover. Remember that the purpose for this call is to take the pulse of
the organization with respect to whether we should hold a mock telephonic
vote next spring. Our first call, two weeks ago, had a low turn-out, but that
was the day Hurricane Sandy was at its worst, so we are hoping for a better
turn-out this evening. It is very important for the long-term future of ACB
that we hear from members on this issue, so be sure to spread this reminder
as widely as possible.

Subject: [leadership] voting task force calls

Please distribute widely in order to inform as many ACB members as possible.

The ACB Voting Taskforce has been asked to examine the potential for voting
by members who are not attending the ACB Conference and Convention,
otherwise known as remote voting. It has been suggested that we hold a mock
telephonic vote during the spring of 2013 in order to begin to take a closer
look at this important issue. The Taskforce is holding two open conference
calls to discuss a number of issues concerning whether such a vote should be
held and if so, how it should be handled. The calls will be held on two
Monday evenings, October 29 and November 12, commencing at 8 PM Eastern
Time, 5 PM Pacific Time. The call-in

number will be 218-8448230 and the code is 335335.

Below you will find some of the questions on which we hope to obtain your
input during these calls.

(1) Do you feel that it would be beneficial to hold a mock telephone vote?

(2) If so, how should we conduct this vote. In connection with this
question, how do we ensure one-member-one-vote, protect confidentiality and
minimize cost? Should we hold a vote on a resolution question or a mock
election? Should the vote be conducted over a period of time or in real-time
as it is at convention?

(3) What kind of experiences to people have with telephone voting

(4) Do you feel there is a need to have a means for people to vote without
being at convention?

(5) Would members be less likely to attend convention if ACB had a remote
voting option?\

On behalf of the Voting Taskforce, we urge you to participate in one of
these calls.

Jeff Thom

Chair, ACB Voting Taskforce
