Denny:
I am not sure if it is accessible but I use Piriform CC Cleaner to check
on the amount of disposable files present on my disk. When this gets up
to about 10 percent of hard drive I clean out the material .
I also have a standard procedure of Defragging the disk at least once
per week.
Both of these actions have been of value to me.

No, it doesn't take that long to download. Although I am running an
I5 processor and 4 gig of ram my PC gets very sluggish while the
download and installation process is being done. So I just manually
download it.

What kind of service do you have? Does it take a long time to
download or is it more a matter of convenience for you?

I turn it off because when it dows an update I find it difficult
to use my computer until the update is finished. It does an
update 3 or 4 times a day and it gets to be aggravaitng waiting
for it to finish especially when you are trying to do something on
your PC. This might not happen to everybody b ut it does on mine.

Carl,
Yes, you could use Vipre exclusively. I also use Malwarebytes
in addition to Vipre but it's probably not necessary. I also
turn off the automatic updates for Vipre and update the
definitions manually once a week or so.

would this do away with the protection offered through
Mediacom which I currently use now and I'm suspecting it is
causing a problem with my Window eyes? could I get rid of it
and use Vipre exclusively?
