Hi, all. I can't tell you how excited I am to share this with you. Don't worry if you don't understand all of this, but please share with people whom you think might be interested.
We our writing this to let you know that XBMC formerly known as XBox Media Center has a Speech add-on being developed that reads the menu's and such. The add-on being currently still in development (Alpha stage to be exact), >From my wife's and my personal experiences works really well and reads most anything on the screen. For those who don't know what XBMC is, It is a media player, Kinda like Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, or such. It is open source and is constantly being developed for and added on to. With XBMC what can be done and played is only limited by your imagination, skill, and know-how. There are add-ons for everything. Currently for example, We are able to plug it into our PlayOn (PlayOn is a separate program and does cost money) and play Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and anything else Playon can serve. We also have it connected to our own personal Music, Video and picture library can easily with the push of a button search for, queue, and/or play anything we want. We are also able to search and play Youtube videos, and hundreds if not thousands of online Radio streams, Heck, we even have a plugin that allows us to listen to online Police/Weather/Fire scanners. We also currently use it as a front end for Windows media center and play live tv and/or set recordings. All without any need for a screen. Currently XBMC with the Speech add-on runs on Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi and OsX. However, Speech addon Does not currently run on Android or IOS, but there is always room for development here. :) If you are interested, I recommend you Start here: http://ruuk.github.io/service.xbmc.tts/ For windows it as easy as downloading the current incarnation of XBMC and the Windows Installer for speech addon. More information and development's for the Speech add-on can be found in the Forum thread here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=117199 However, I suggest limiting the questions in this thread to speech add on related questions only. More information about XBMC itself can be found here: http://xbmc.org To ask questions or just research in general I suggest you go to the XBMC Forum here: http://forum.xbmc.org/ More information about Playon can be found Here: http://www.playon.tv/playon P.S. If you are a developer or know one who might be intrested in a project like this, I am sure the current developers wouldn't mind the assistance, Two minds better and all that. Furthermore, If you find this addon handy, While Ruuk would never ask for it himself, Might suggest you send a donation to him through his donate button on the first link above. Please keep in mind this does take alot of his time and effort to develop this Game- changing add-on. _______________________________________________ ATI (Adaptive Technology Inc.)
