Microsoft may have pushed out an update to you. Follow these steps:
open I.E.
alt t for tools menu
arrow down to manage add-ons
There will be radio buttons to choose from.
arrow down once.
search providers
press tab.
There will be a list of providers.
You can arrow to the one you wish to modify.
tab to either the enable or disable button.
For example, Bing. press tab to the disable button.
choose google then tab to enable.
and so on.

This morning, the first time I ran IE a page came up asking me if I
wanted to use Microsoft's default settings or those I had defied. Of
course, I want those I have defined. The Close button required a
mouse click rather then Enter to activate it.
One of the settings shown was for my default search engine. Where do
I go in IE to change this setting? It doesn't seem to be in General
where you can set your default web page on startup.
