I trained some clients back then on using Dragon Dictate and most of the training time was spent making corrections. Now however; it works great right out of the box. Like you said, its not perfect but it sure has come a long ways and in another 10 years it will be even better. And sometimes, what you get is so far from what you requested that you will wonder what possible connection there was. But for the most part, it works well but not always.
