I have no doubt that you are right but I would like to know how
you come to your conclusion. I've read the HTTP spec and my reasoning was
based on the fact that "storing the entity" implicitly means "storing
without modifications".

Is there any material (specifications, wikis, etc.) that makes this
more clear or is
this common sense?
