Having spent a substantial part of the weekend plowing through the
atom-protocol archive, we think that it is fairly clear where we
stand. We have a bunch of minor issues, a few of which we can call
consensus or no-consensus on based on the (voluminous) discussion so
far, leaving a few fairly low-grade ones which need working out.
We also have two big outstanding issues:
- the APP introspection facility: do we specify one, and if so what?
- how does a client deal with very large collections?
Fortunately, on both of the big issues, we have on hand well-crafted
proposals that have received sufficient discussion to make the
options pretty clear, and all the options seem reasonably sane on the
face of it. So here's what we're going to do:
1. We'll issue a consensus call on a bunch of the recently-posted
Paces. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE; if you disagree with the
call on one pace, call it out and start a thread on that.
2. We'll issue a message that outlines the options on introspection
and ask for +/- calls on them. Please reply to this message.
3. We'll issue a message that outlines the options on traversing
large collections and ask for +/- calls on them. Please reply to this
message.
