There are cases where explicit is better than implicit.
The default for title should be TEXT - i.e., no markup.
Those that wish to add markup should be required to be explicit about it. Particularly, as this has proven to be a very error prone process.
Allowing the declaration of markup to be implicit (i.e., having a default for type) will lead to continued confusion and errors.
I am -1 on this Pace. Making type required on all textual elements would address my concern, but my preference is to leave the spec as it is.
