Maybe there's a minor bug in the wording here, but the restriction is not intended to block that (mentioning the band and then the member would not count as mentioning someone twice), and the pseudocode I proposed would produce more-or-less sensible results.
In any case, the alternative you propose is "no model at all", and anything created under would not be decodeable programatically, unless you can provide psuedocode that proves otherwise.
