Agree. Googles' sitemap format, Infoseek's sitelist.txt, and other similar things only serve to provide a list of links to updated pages. They don't serve to carry content or author metadata or such forth. They are just a glorified "submit your url to be indexed" functionality for search engines. Only you don't have to submit one URL at a time. e.
