RFC4287 distinguishes between 'undefined' and 'extension' constructs. I am understanding the distinction to imply that conformant software should provide for handling extension elements, but can and should ignore any occurrences of undefinedAttribute or undefinedContent.
Is that understanding correct? Thanks, Jan
