Just as an update, I did manage to build qt47 for RHEL6 and there are
builds for RHEL5 in the queue.

We do need to keep the qtXX packages current for supported RHEL and
rebuild platforms. The advantages are that we wold both be able to build
content that requires newer qt features (like mythtv), but also that we
will not have to backport security patches to an older version of qt.

I don't expect the land the new qt47 packages on the first build, so
they will have to live in bleeding for a while. But I would like to get
feedback from people on whether these packages work properly in
situations outside of mythtv.

The packages' design should be that the required run-time subpackages
should be coinstallable with the vendor's qt (and/or qt4) package sets,
so we can later let the packages live in other repos than bleeding.

The *-devel packages cannot be coinstallable, so they will need to get
explicit Conflicts: with the corresponding *-devel packages. I haven't
yet added such Conflicts.

The packages are available at dl.atrpms.net for anyone else who wants to
pick at them. Please pick at them :)
They are based on Fedora 14's package, so if you want to check the
differences diff F14 specfile against these packages. The changes are
mostly renames and removing Obsoletes:.
