you need to use /etc/X11/xorg.conf.nvidia as a template for
/etc/X11/xorg.conf (or just copy it over).

This could had been done automatically, but in ancient times, when
people where using rpm -Uhv on all ATrpms' packages it happened often
that ATI users would not recover from an automated installation. So
for better or worse the config file still needs manual renaming to
activate the driver.
