I run mythtv on FC4 using a Shuttle box with an AverTV tuner, an Athlon 2.0-GHz CPU and a VIA82xx DSP for audio. Using "apt-get dist-upgrade" I upgraded from mythtv-0.19 to mythtv-0.20 from the atrpms archive. This led to two problems: 1. There is no sound for TV recording or playback. Programs recorded before the upgrade still play back with sound, but anything recorded since then is silent. Same thing with watching live TV. Fedora has a soundcard detection application. The sample sound plays through that application, so I believe this is something to do with mythtv. Thanks in advance for any pointers on how to debug and fix this. 2. (fixed) mythbackend did not launch at system boot time. In /etc/rc5.d there was a K14mythbackend file, but renaming this to S14mythbackend still did not launch mythbackennd. Instead I added "/etc/init.d/mythbackend start" to S99local and now it launches OK. Again, thanks for any pointers on the sound issue. dn ps.
