hmmm - although I have been bitten by this FC6 installer bug on other 
machines the box in question has had the i686 kernel from the start and 
the above rpm database query returns nothing.

I will do a little digging and see if I can reproduce this or find any 
additional information on how it occurred and if so take it upstream to 
smart.
