Can you let me, someone who is fairly dense to this and understands
about 50% of what you wrote, know explicitly what I need to do to get
firewire working again?  I have blacklisted the kernel stuff as
advised in the past thread on the mythtv-users list (again, for
reference: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/283084).

Do I need to get the kmdl or something?  These are the rpms with
libraw1394 in the names I have installed:
$ rpm -qa *libraw*
libraw1394-1.2.1-10.fc7
libraw1394-devel-1.2.1-10.fc7
