I have just been recovering (mentally) from FC6 -> F8.

Only way I could get this to work was FC6 -> F7 -> F8 and even that 
required some rpm -e actions before, finally, it worked.

There are still some F7 packages (and FC6 also) but everything seems to 
be working OK. Only missing item is the login screen which does not show 
the users selection.

This was also the case on my another PC where I did F7 -> F8 upgrade.
Man it takes a long time to do dependencies on a PIII-800...

Btw. you can speed up the process by copying the packages from a DVD to 
the Smart/Yum cache. The process uses those unless there are newer 
available.
