You mean that the above also updates kmdls its shouldn't?

But then the update of kmdls upon kernel updates is what the plugin
was written for. I thought you meant that you were updating say
firefox and it also started to update unreleated kmdls. If you want to
install kernels and not have kmdls coinstalled then deactivate the
kmdl plugin.
