There is no alsa-lib 1.0.22 for rhel5 on ATrpms, but I do not know whether it would make any difference. At least, it did not for 1.0.21, because I created and tried it some time ago.

Rhel5 has a very old and highly patched kernel, and each time it is more difficult to maintain modules for it. Rhel 5.5 is coming out, but the solution is waiting for rhel6, in my opinion.
