I'm writing this message from a live Knoppix disc running through my atv, so I've gotten that far --- and I'm ready to install linux but for one concern: white = green black = purple
Yes, no matter what linux liveCD i try, once X starts, everything that is black is purple, and everything that should be white is green. I saw on an earlier thread that some people said this was happening and that unplugging and re-plugging the HDMI cable seemed to correct the problem, but this is not the case for me. Composite is worse; it generates an entirely unstable image. I've tried running Ubuntu Gutsy and Hardy, same color problems. I've tried installing the proprietary nvidia drivers on Hardy but whenever I try to invoke either Synaptic or Aptitude, the system crashes. I also tried Fedora 10 but that will not even start X to run Anaconda (worthy of note here, however, is that the ncurses installer is proper colors) Is this something that will correct itself if I install linux and get the nvidia driver installed? or is there some fix that I should try first? I'd hate to install linux and not be able to get it working right; my girlfriend would swiftly kill me were that to happen. The version of atv I have is 160gb Thanks in advance for any advice.
