After reading the instructions here:

http://benstechcents.blogspot.com/2009/01/making-appletv-into-mythtv-frontend.html

and some other information, I decided that I would try and replace my
xbox/xbmc/xbmcmythtv frontend with a hacked appletv running a
mythbuntu frontend.

I made it successfully through step 4 which was reformatting the drive
for linux. My appletv boots to the penboot prompt with telnet running
and I can telnet in. If I still own a USB CD, I can't find it, so I
made a used the tool in Ubuntu to build a mythbuntu USB flash. I
tested it on my laptop and it boots fine. I have a USB hub connected
to my appletv. I have the mythbuntu USB flash, a usb keyboard and a
usb mouse connected. When I hold Menu and - on the remote and reboot,
it will not boot from the usb drive. It seems to see it as sdb as well
as the keyboard and mouse. I tried following the instructions here:

http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/wiki/BootingLiveCD

and mounting sdb rather than sr0, but no joy. I tried several
variations of the mount command, but all say invalid argument.

So, I am stuck. I guess I will go buy a USB CD/DVD if necessary, but I
want to make sure it is necessary. I know that in these instructions:

http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/wiki/LinuxUSBPenBoot

I edited com.apple.Boot.plist and I was wondering if I needed to edit
that file to cause it to look for and boot from the USB flash. I don't
know but would appreciate some help. I would like to finish this today
or this weekend. Thanks.
