Guys
I'm going for option 3 on this page
http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/wiki/InstallingLinux
(3. Coexist on the internal disk and use a USB flash drive to
bootstrap)

I have been able to do everything including the repartitioning (http://
code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/wiki/AlternatePartitioning2) booting
from the live cd, and preparing the partitions.

qu#1. Then the instructions become less clear on this page
http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/wiki/InstallUbuntuGutsy :
"Install grub as we need the grub structure (menu.lst) to boot. We
will run gptsync to fix up the MBR to one that efi firmware likes
so that the boot to the tux/atv logo drops from 30-60 seconds to 11.
This is done later when the install is running native on the AppleTV."

I'm not seeing any option to install grub. Should I see that option
(I'm using Hardy) or is it installed by default in Hardy? Can I assume
that I then just go ahead and click Forward through the next steps of
the installation and let the install complete?

qu#2. The answer to qu#1 might help here, the next step in the
instructions on this page explains how to fix console framebuffer
support, but is again less clear.
(a) if I let the install complete in qu#1 above, how do I progress to
the command prompt in order to issue the next commands?
(b) given that I am not installing to USB drive do I simply ignore,
or adapt :
"sudo mount --bind /dev /media/disk/dev
#
sudo chroot /media/disk
df to make sure you are in the correct root filesystem
"/" should be mounted on /dev/sda4"

If adapt, can someone spell out what adaptation is required please? As
I'm using the co-exist install option, I realise that actually /
should be mounted on /dev/sda5.

thanks
Paul
