That's just for the install, after 10.04 is installed run these commands.

sed -i -e 's/^blacklist vesafb/#blacklist vesafb/' /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer.conf
echo blacklist nouveau >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer.conf
echo blacklist vgastate >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer.conf
echo blacklist vga16fb >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer.conf
update-initramfs -u

"'vga16fb.blacklist=yes' ? That works for the kexec yes but when you
are using the menu.lst it auto parses that boots you. How would I add
that to the menu.lst?

Or would I just add "blacklist vga16fb" to the modprobe.d file?

There's a different fb you need to blacklist in 10.04. Check this forum for
one of my posts regarding ubuntu 10.04 alt install. I can't remember which
fb it was at the moment but I posted it here somewhere.

I actually got it all working, started over from scratch and I used
the "alternate" install CD for 10.04 because the GUI kept freezing up
on the CD install. All is working great, except now I can't get the
framebuffer fixed for the console. I had it working fine using that
work around listed in the installs section modifying the initramfs and
black list excluding the vesafb. However I decided to do an apt-get
update/upgrade and now I can't for the life of me get the console
working.
Running in the GUI works just fine but gdm eats up an extra 100MB of
my memory! I really don't need this box to have a GUI since I am
using it for some work projects, ssh and a console interface is fine.
Techincally it will boot up fine console wise (you just can't see
anyhting because the frame buffer is jacked) and I can ssh into it but
its crappy because I would like to be able to do that local to the
machine occasionally.
Any hints guys?

Thank you for this! I'll be on summer break in a few weeks and I can't

Have you tried a patchstick with the alternative mach_kernel?

I've not done a full-install of Ubuntu with it, and am looking for
feedback, patches, or any signs of life among interested AppleTV
hackers.

My atv is dead at the moment (need to reball or replace the GPU when I
can
find the time), so I'm unable to make or test changes 'til that gets
taken
care of.
