It's on hold, because Stefan Monnier, the Emacs maintainer, had the idea to develop AUCTeX in Emacs' bzr repository in the elpa branch. That's fine with me, but due to AUCTeX complex build process (XEmacs packages, windows packages), I'm the wrong person to migrate the CVS repo there. Stefan wanted to help and contact Ralf and David.
