have you tried installing AUCTeX using the ELPA package first, as
suggested here [1]? I don't use Windows but this should work there as
well. Issue
M-x package-install RET auctex RET
and you are done, perhaps after an Emacs restart. "M-x" stands for
"hold down the Meta key and press the x key", "RET" for the Enter key.
The Meta key is equivalent to the Alt key in most keyboards.
