The latex-symbols toolbar in auctex 11.89.5 (under Emacs 25.1 rc2 and macOS Sierra (10.12) golden master) does not seem to work quite as expected. Namely, when it is activated by clicking its symbol in the toolbar nothing happens until you click on the buffer. The same glitch occurs when I deactivate it. Is this a known bug in Emacs 25.1?
