Hm, I'm a bit at a loss here, since I don't know what might cause this

Hm, those are the results of a normal LaTeX run, not a preview-latex
run.
Anyway, do you get the same errors when not using TeX PDF mode
(assuming you actually use it)? You can toggle this with `C-c C-t
C-p'. In the modeline there is an indicator telling you which mode
you are in.
