Yes, texlive from standard repository is outdated. Texlive 2009 is in the fedorapeople repo: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/TeXLive. Which can be added by typing: # rpm -i http://jnovy.fedorapeople.org/texlive/texlive-f12-release-2009-0.3.fc12.noarch.rpm

But texlive 2007 will remain in the dependencies of emacs-auctex. Thus it is maybe the best way to install texlive2009 via yum and then compile auctex from source.

2007? latest TeXLive is 2009, which has an update manager, and there have been quite some updates since 2009 was released...
