AUCTeX is like democracy.  It leaves an awful lot to be desired, but
everything else ends up being worse.

Wasn't there some TeXmaker clone developed more than it?  Kile or Kate
or whatever its everchanging name was?  Or was this unrelated to
TeXmaker?
