thanks again for trying out

Indeed on a Ubuntu 16 with

GNU Emacs 24.5.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.18.9)
of 2016-04-17 on lgw01-04, modified by Debian

I don't have the issue which I reported initially
(tested with 11.89.6 and then 11.90.0)

The issue does arise on my Mac though, (with Emacs 25.1
and a binary build I downloaded from the net)

the first thought is
that something is different in my init files, I can not
compare them now but will do that later and report if
anything comes out.

Jean-François
