Preview has its own set of key bindings and isn't invoked by C-c C-c. You see the bindings if you look in the "Preview" menu. `preview-buffer' is bound to C-c C-p C-b for instance.
Oh my, I feel so embarrassed, had completely forgotten about that. In my previous machine I bound a C-c C-c command to that, and completely forgot after doing a bit of tabula rasa in the new machine.
