Thanks for testing. Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought that that WDM-KS did not show up for you, which is unexpected. WASAPI is only for Vista and later, so it won't be there on XP. If you generate a tone, can you play it using WDM-KS? I can't on XP, but XP is strictly speaking unsupported on the laptop I've got it on.
