As for your distro, ubuntu 12.04 so far is the best, and I heard that the ubuntu bootmanager, grub, has a feature if you press f9 there is speech for the boot menu recorded with either espeak synth itself or 8 bit recordings of it. I'd go with installing the boot program for the live cd for ubuntu then booting into that then installing in a duel boot.
