yes it is true, you can safely back it up, the jail break tweaks and kydia will be gone, but just to be safe, if the phone will have any problems restore it completely before going to apple and when you get it back you can put your backed up files on it again. even if you decide to jailbreak your iphone and run into any issue restoring it will allways erase any content that you had so apple has no way of knowing if you've jailbroken or not.
