Re: Has anyone installed mac on a vm?

You shouldn't have to be to concerned about fullscreen mode unless you have some vision. What you need to pay attention to is the software that needs to be installed in order to *attempt* to make your system run mac on a vm not only by unlocking vmware's ability to run mac vm's under windows, but also your system's ability to if it's not powered by an intel core cpu. Check your processor in your system information. I say, if it's not intel, just don't even try. Before I got a physical mac which I absolutely would recommend over a vm any day, I was trying to get my dell inspiren1545 with a pentium cpu to run a mac vm in order to try it out, but there was no much shit you had to install, loopholes to find, etc that it just wasn't worth it. Even if you have an intel cpu, unless you have a very high amount of ram 8gb at the very least, you may be disappointed at the voiceover responsiveness. Basically, you'll be lucky if you get under a hal f second of keyboard delay. That's nowhere near a real mac, even one with 2gb of ram which I have experienced before. On top of that, even if you do have awesome responsiveness, you should be advised that you won't be running a licensed copy of osx. Expect no apple id related features, software suites like iwork, garageband, facetime, etc. Expect none of that. You'll be lucky if you can even enter your apple id during setup in the first place. But wait, I though mac updates were free? That's the misconception. They technically are, now they are at least, they never used to be. They're free because your system's hardware information basically serves as the license key for osx. The mac is technically another pc thanks to intel, a high powered one at that, but it's a serialized device. Your system's serial number and hardware specs are your license information for mac. So unless you're fine with trying mac with a limited experience, I say it 's more worth it to actually go to the apple store and try a mac. You'll be much more satisfied that way.
