@post 80: Change the default sapi voice in windows itself. If you're running a 64-bit vm, look in: windows\syswow64\speech\speechux\ , and there locate sapi.cpl . this will allow you to set a 32-bit voice as system default, so you could use "espeak" for instance. Once that's done, things should hopefully improve a lot.
