actually, you won't need a rooted device Unless you're willing to flash a custom ROM. other than that, just flash your ROM with odin, and you're all set. note that if you're willing to install twrp, you can do it without root, then install super SU from within twrp. Oh and for the bootloop, flash twrp with odin, then load it, go to the reset section, and do a full wipe. Then it's time for flashing a new ROM, which also needs to be done with odin.
You can ask google for further help, there are a hell lot of instructions and manuals out there
