aktualy, you just have to do the basic open the chat promp and type /newmap mapname maplong mapfootsteps and enter
for example:
/newmap forest 500 grass
so your map will be named as forest, 500 coordinate long, and the default footsteps that you will hear are the grass footsteps sounds.
you will be automaticly inside your map after you hit enter, now it is super easy to spawn stuff, just hit p, and a list of object that you could spawn are shown there, like platform, ropes, etc.
