God, what is this all about?
On iPad Notes is the most accessible text editor you can find on the whole Apple world. It saves files in .txt format and you don't need much effort to save and close the document. It's as easy as clicking done and then going back to the main screen. You can import and export documents without any issue, particularly now that iOS has the Files app.
Even for reading, I found Notes the most convenient application as it gives you the possibility to read the text paragraph by paragraph. I once imported a 200 page word document to the Notes app and reading it there was really pleasant.
One thing I recommend to all those who use Apple devices: if you really want to enjoy the best experience on your mobile device regarding the work with office applications such as Word, powerpoint or Excel, use the Apple suite of apps such as Pages, numbers, or Keynotes. You will be really satisfied with their results. I have a book in word format which I attempted to open with Microsoft Word for iOS; the application crashed immediately and the only thing I could do was to return to the home screen. In contrast, when I attempted to open it with Pages for iOS, it just showed a dialog box "this document may look differently on your device", but after clicking OK, the document was opened at no time.
