Do you mean switching game frameworks? If so, I'd recommend you fix the performance first. User experience takes priority above everything. The thing is, ultimately your users won't notice the change in gaming engines, but they will notice that the game isn't eating processing power like a bunch of contending threads. In fact I haven't played the game since that one day simply because of its horrible performance. So take care of that before doing bigger (but more end-user-subtle things.)
