I think both WinPE with speech and answer files have their strengths, but I am old school and prefer to do it by hand.

It's true that audio support in the PE environment is limited, but if you use a standard USB headset it's usually detected as an USB audio device.


Which USB audio device did you try?

All of my USB audio devices work without a problem -- Jabra, Plantronics, Logitech and even my old Creative SB Live 16 external sound card.

Even if your particular model is not officially supported, it may be possible to tweak the INF file to recognize the compatible hardware id.

What did you mean? That WAIK for Windows 7 is no longer relevant?

Or that answer files are no longer relevant?
