JAWS University Program (you might get JAWS for free)
I came across a program a few days ago while I was debating whether or not I should join the JAWS Home Annual program and wanted to share it here because of the program's low-key advertising. I think the $90 price tag is very nice and makes JAWS accessible for so many people, including myself. I've always missed the screen reader after being forced to drop it once my Voc Rehab services stopped funding my case because of university graduation.
This program is similar to Office Live programs. Major universities buy a site-wide license for Office and every student has access to the full Office 365 suite including One Drive and MSDNAA.
FreedomScientific has done something similar where if your university has a site-wide license for JAWS, you're eligible for a JAWS Home license on your personal computer. This program isn't widely advertised and I happened to come across it in passing only.
You can check if your university is part of the program by going to http://portal.freedomscientific.com and entering your university email address. If you qualify, a message will pop up indicating this straight away before you're taken to the page to set up a portal account.
If you qualify and you've set up your account, you get JAWS Home free of charge and can download it immediately.
So, all university students should check the portal and see if they qualify. I did, and am now running a full-featured JAWS on my system with no extra cost to me.
