As I understand socialism, it's giving production into the hands of the government, and that's where I disagree. Putting most things in the hand of government means it is doomed to fail, or it is used as a mechanism for control.
What I would do is let the people who enjoy working on automation do their thing, and there are fortunately enough people in the world that someone is going to love doing whatever needs to be done. IN fact, in time, people probably won't need much government at all, which would be a good thing. This would turn it more into a libertarian society than anything else.
Also, yes, most money isn't real. That's why it is bound to fail, probably sooner rather than later.
