Yeah, because the output part doesn't contain the output from console, but from VS. I am not sure exactly what it is, I have never needed it, so may be someone who has will describe it in more detail.
If you want to run your application, simply press f5, that will start it in a debug mode. Similarly, ctrl+f5 will run it as well, but without debugging.
Then you could see the console window popping up immediately, it's the standard Windows cmd.
Also, just for completeness, if you want to compile only your app but don't want to run it, you can press ctrl+shift+b to build the current solution.
