If you do a search on your paper library for audio games, you will get lots of bits and pieces about what you are looking for.
There are a ton of news articles posted on the Games_access email list.
If you also search google news for blind gamers or audio games, you will find some stuff.
It will be a paper looking at how the mainstream community looks at the audio game community.
My hypothesis is that the view is that it is a nich market that consists of mostly MUDs.
