If I can't do it in C, I will use whatever facilities that are available but make it as similar to the C API as possible. I have very little experience with Mac, so I need to do a lot more research before I can talk about it, but the mobile devices are higher on my priority list when it comes to the platforms I want to support.
I use SDL2. It works well, though its audio subsystem is not quite up to the standard I require so I went with a combination of SoLoud and Miniaudio. SoLoud has its shortcomings so I might replace it at some point, but right now it mostly does what I want it to do. With Miniaudio as its backend, it works great.
