Re: Crazy Cart? A question to Pragma!
Lawrence, I understand where you're coming from regarding the entitlement attitude, as I wrote that statement in like 1 minute and didn't really put much thought into it. That's the thing that sucks, though. Nintendo seems to be very hesitant when adding accessibility to their game consoles (they don't have a screen reader yet). It seems to me like it's a Japanese corporation related thing, with the culture around accessibility being way less progressive over there than here. I cannot say this for certain, as I don't live there, but it seems like the United States-based companies are more likely to be receptive to requests for equal access. I totally get why you called me out for that. I just think that Nintendo's overly stingy with their IP rights, and that makes sense. It just annoys me (and I state this in a way that's a bit less entitled, I hope) that Nintendo tends to launch cease and desist orders against websites (I'm not one for emulation but when physical copy prices are through the roof, I sort of understand) that they don't have an easily usable alternative to. I love them for their games, but this issue isn't just related to accessibility. Look at the countless music channels on YouTube being taken down because Nintendo had flagged their videos on copyright grounds, without Nintendo providing a paid sollution to buy their soundtracks. And regarding the "Manamon-ing" a Mario Kart game, isn't that what Digimon did to Pokémon as well? It's a very plausible idea that could totally work. Someone just needs to figure out how it will work.
