Re: Is there a better Windows terminal?

Hi,
Yeah, Windows's cmd is somewhat tricky to manage at first, but once you get it, it'll be a peace of cake. I had the same problems with the reverse process, getting used to Linux terminal after being used to Windows terminal, so it's not just case of cmd imo.

First things first, I really like Rust. Its syntax, safety, and entire design, C++ is a one big mess when compared to it.
But despite this, it's true that Rust has also one of the most noisy compilers, that I've ever seen. Not because of messages, but the ascii graphics involved, many characters are there just to make things look good, while they're disturbing screenreaders.
The best thing you can do is perhaps to set interpunction in Nvda to some, although I haven't tested other variants, but in thisone, its... somewhat manageable. But there will be still a lot of output, although I think the situation is the same on Linux, so you're probably already used to it.

If you want to read the output, assuming you have your keyboard layout set to laptop, you need to use nvda + arrow keys shortcuts. I don't know what is the english name of this mode, in Slovak, it's called Plošné prezeranie, what could be translated as area browsing, or something like that.
It's the same as orca + u and o to navigate line up and down, orca + j and l to navigate word left and right, etc. on Linux.
You can even copy text with this, marking the beginning with nvda + f9 first and pressing nvda + f10 twice at the end mark position.

if you see just one line, may be you have wrong navigation mode, you can switch them using nvda plus page up and page down, they switch between navigating whole screen and just focused element.

Also, finally one good advice, if you have lot of output, so it can't be displayed all at once, you can press alt + space, then e and l, to activate scrolling. This has saved me lot of struggling, as controlling cmd in standard ways is somewhat weird in this case, so knowing things like this can save time.

Best regards

Rastislav
