Re: Accessible video games 2020?
You can expect to see more mainstream games with voiced menus, thanks to a combination of CVAA obligations and developer tools becoming available - Unreal now has an early experimental version of screenreader support, which was recently seen in the woods for the first time in the halo master chief collection, and with any luck Unity might be able to get a release of something out this year too.
There are more mainstream developers thinking seriously about gameplay accessibility too, what they need more than anything is examples showing what's possible. Sequence Storm for example is now being referenced by other developers. So if you are someone don't nice things, shout about it loudly so other devs get to hear about it.
Actually that gives me an idea, a reference of audio games that replicates mainstream game mechanics might be a nice resource, I'll start a separate thread about that.
I'd hope to see progress at the platform end too, as both the XB1 and PS4 only started to tackle accesaiibiity partway through their lives.. whereas PS5 and XBsX were still early in development at that point.
